Coach Shin Sang-woo of the women's national soccer team expressed his determination ahead of the two consecutive games against Colombia.

The Korean women's team, led by Shin, will hold two consecutive friendly matches against Colombia at the Asian Rugby Stadium in southeastern Incheon on Thursday and Yongin Mir Stadium on March 2. Shin, who took the helm in October last year, will hold an A-match for the first time in Korea.

"I will play my first match in Korea after serving as a coach. I need to prepare well to bring good results," Shin told reporters ahead of a training session at Jeongwang Sports Park in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province on Wednesday. "If we show good performance in Korea, I think women's soccer will also receive more attention."

Since taking the helm, Shin has been battling strong women's soccer teams including Japan, Spain, Canada and Australia. Although he has dealt with Uzbekistan, Thailand and India in Asia at the Pink Ladies Cup in February this year, he has faced strong teams in matches to evaluate the situation. Colombia, which will face off this time, is also a strong team in South America, which ranks 21st in the FIFA rankings, lower than Korea, which ranks 19th, but suffered defeat at the World Cup two years ago.

Coach Shin said, "The women's national team has mainly met weak teams in Asia, but we can mature and develop only when we do it with a strong team for an ongoing generational change," adding, "We are thinking of various changes to go to a good color and system."

Shin is conducting partial replacement of generations by selecting new players at every convocation to check their performance. "Generation change is not an immediate solution. This is why players who participated in the U-20 World Cup are converging with veteran players. It is becoming more natural," Shin said.

The Korean team will participate in the East Asian Football Confederation (EAFF) E-1 Championship in July this year. It will participate in the Asian Cup in Australia in March next year. 스포츠토토

"Up until now, I think I would get about six points when considering a perfect score of 10. I have to go up to 8-9 to achieve my goal. To that end, I have to play as an original team," Shin said. "The Asian Cup next year is the most important thing. I have to prepare well."

Meanwhile, Ji So-yeon and other overseas players joined to prepare for the match against Colombia.
